UNITED ASSOCIATION HVAC SERVICE TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION (UA UNIVERSITY MASTERY EXAMINATION) The United Association's UA STAR service technician certification program has been endorsed by the Mechanical Service contractors of America (MSCA). This program will ensure that service technicians have all the necessary skills required to do their job efficiently and safely and will enhance the level of service training at the local level. It will also give contractors a marketing edge and provide end users with a better-trained and highly educated workforce.

TMI is proud to be among the first in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois to become certified as an MSCA (Mechanical Service Contractors of America) S.T.A.R. contractor! One of only fifty companies nationwide, we met stringent criteria and provided supporting documentation to prove we are an experienced service contractor, employ the most qualified workforce, maintain a superior safety record, offer outstanding customer service, and focus on continuing education and training for all employees.
TMI met a series of eight requirements, which included the following:
MSCA member in good standing.
Proven track record in the HVACR industry.
Minimum of 25% of workforce UA STAR certified. To become certified, technicians were tested on a range of topics that only averages a 56% pass rate.
Documented company service safety and health programs and an outstanding safety record.
On-going training for all employees.
Employees attend at least one MSCA or MCAA national or local program yearly.
Established truck inventory control system and major tool inventory program.
Photo ID cards to be worn by field personnel.
Highest levels of customer service.
